157lb breakdown:
Alot of contenders and they all have to find the solution to one thing; how to stop James Green and his 'Burroughs like' double leg.
Green's only loss was to Jordan from Wisconsin who has really found his way in the 2nd half of the season. Jordan has proved that he can beat anyone and will be a contender for the title.
When the brackets came out, everyone in the top half had to cringe a bit to see that Ness is sitting at the #9 and can easily pick everyone off on his way to a title.
Pena has big match potential but has dropped odd matches along the way and still does not have a HUGE marquee win to push him over the other All-Americans in the top half.
The tough freshman, Murphy, is in a pig-tail match and will likely run into always dangerous Miller of Kent State. The winner of that match gets to see which Dylan Alton is going to show up in Oklahoma City. Alton has the talent to surprise everyone, but it's not likely to happen.
Dieringer's only loss is to the 157lb defending champion, St. John, and will have to go through the champ to become a champ. Dieringer will also have to deal with another dangerous opponent in Walsh of Indiana. If the St. John we all know shows up and continues to win the one point matches, he has a clear cut path to the finals and a potential 2nd title.
At the end of the day, it's hard to bet against Green and his double leg. But, will his seven minute conditioning hold up if someone stays off the tracks of his double.
We are also not betting against Alton like most of the wrestling world has.
How exciting would it be to pit the explosive types of Miller and Ness in the semi-final round.
Realbuto is the real deal and could also find himself on the podium.
