Perhaps the deepest heavyweight field in the history of the NCAA.
And after four losses this season, the defending 2x NCAA Champ, Tony Nelson, has found a way to put himself back at the #1 seed by winning the Big 10 title.
To clearify or rather confuse the entire bracket, we will leave it at this:
EVERYONE has beaten everyone in this weight class over the past four months.
Gwiazdowski of NC State looks to be the only real title contender outside of th Big Ten mob of standout heavyweight wrestlers. No disrespect to the 8th seed Felix, but the Big Ten guys are battle tested each and every week and they know every strength and weakness of the other.
The quarter-final round should feature Nelson/Medbery, Telford/Coon, Chalfant/McMullan, McClure/Gwiazdowski. We're predicting Nelson/Coon and Chalfant/Gwiazdowski in the semi's with Coon and Chalfant meeting in the finals.
There has just been something about the Chalfant that may get him to the title. All three of his losses have been in sudden victory.
The super freshman, Coon, hit a few bumps in the road and needed an at-large berth to get in the tournament and is still seeded #4. We look for Coon to take out the defending champ in the semi's.
Overall, just a great competitive and FUN class to watch the entire way through.
OWN 285 Prediction: Adam Chalfant, Indiana
Other Brackets: 125 / 133 / 141 / 149 /157 /165 / 174 / 184 / 197
