The early college recruiting period is going to start heating up in the next month, but the University of Michigan and Eastern Michigan University have already landed big name prospects from the Buckeye State.
Austin Assad of Brecksville High School gave a verbal to the University of Michigan earlier this month, giving the Wolverines a pair of nationally renowned recruits very early in the recruiting year. The nation's #1 recruit from the class of 2015, Logan Massa (St Johns), committed to UM last fall. Assad is an Ohio State Champ but rose his stock significantly when he won the 120lb Junior Freestyle National title in Fargo earlier this summer.
Zac Carson of Uniontown Lake High School was the most recent commitment, giving new EMU Head Coach Dave Bolyard the first pickup in his first recruiting class. Carson is a 2x Ohio State Placer in Division 1, the large school division in Ohio. Carson was State Runner-Up as a sophomore and 3rd last year as a Junior. He has also placed in the FloNationals as well as the Grappler Fall Classic. He is registered for the 2014 GFC at 152lbs.
