Class 6A Region Duals Preview

CLASS 6A REGION 1 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 1: Hosted by Thomas County Central
Houston Co, Lee Co, Northside WR, Thomas County Central, Tift Co, Veterans

Lee Co has separated themselves from the rest of the Region, they have a dual meet wins over Tift Co and TCC and they have done well in traditional tournaments throughout the season.  Tift knocked off TCC 54-30 in November, and those two teams should have a great semifinal matchup to decide who will take on Lee Co in the Finals.

CLASS 6A REGION 2 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 2: Hosted by Glynn Academy
Brunswick, Effingham Co, Evans, Glynn Academy, Grovetown, Lakeside Evans, South Effingham

CLASS 6A SUPER DUAL ALERT: Brunswick vs South Effingham

Brunswick and South Effingham have posted some great results this season, and both of these teams could wind up in the top 4 of the State  when its all said and done.  However, those two teams are not the only show in town, Glynn Academy has a dynamic set of light weights that could dive a lot of teams problems in a dual format.

CLASS 6A REGION 3 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 3: Hosted by Rockdale Co
Alcovy, Forest Park, Jonesboro, Lovejoy, Morrow, Mundy's Mill, Rockdale Co, Woodward Academy

Woodward and Rockdale Co are pretty much locked in as the 1 and 2 teams in this Region.  The other 6 teams will battle it out for the final 2 spots in the State Duals, and it will probably come down to which 2 teams are able to come the closest to filling out a complete lineup.  As of right now, I'd give the nod to Mundy's Mill and Jonesboro.

CLASS 6A REGION 4 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 4: Hosted by North Atlanta
Dunwoody, Lakeside Dekalb, Marist, North Atlanta, Riverwood, South Cobb, St Pius

The top 4 seem to be pretty clear with Dunwoody leading the way after their 43-31 victory over Marist.  Marist has a win over North Atlanta, giving them the nod at #2, and North Atlanta knocked off St. Pius making them 3rd heading into the weekend.  Things are so competitive in this Region, that any order of those 4 teams is possible.

CLASS 6A REGION 5 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 5: Hosted by Paulding Co
Alexander, Douglas Co, East Paulding, Hughes, New Manchester, Newnan, Paulding Co, South Paulding

I think Newnan has wrestled in every single tournament that has been hosted in Georgia this season.  They have posted some great results so far this season, and they are the favorites heading into the weekend.  South Paulding has been up and down all season splitting matches with East Paulding and Paulding Co, while Alexander is in rebuild mode this year from top to bottom.  Keep an eye on New Manchester as they could surprise some people and sneak into the top 4.

CLASS 6A REGION 6 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 6: Hosted by Etowah
Allatoona, Creekview, Etowah, River Ridge, Rome, Sequoyah, Woodstock.

Creekview and Etowah have distanced themselves from the rest of the field, but the battle for the 3rd and 4th spot in this Region will be intense.  Sequoyah is probably the favorite to take 3rd as they have defeated Woodstock and River Ridge, but the victory over River Ridge was only by 3 points.

5. Rome

CLASS 6A REGION 7 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 7: Hosted by Johns Creek
Alpharetta, Blessed Trinity, Johns Creek, Lassiter, Pope, Roswell, Sprayberry

Lassiter appears to be the top dog in this Region, but keep an eye on Blessed Trinity, they have top tier talent at enough weights to give anyone a tight match.  Pope has steadily been improving throughout the season, and they should have a great dual with BT in the semifinals.  Johns Creek looks to be solidly entrenched in the 4 spot.

CLASS 6A REGION 8 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Region 8: Hosted by Jackson Co
Apalachee, Gainesville, Habersham Central, Jackson Co, Lanier, North Forsyth, Shiloh

CLASS 6A SUPER DUAL ALERT: Jackson Co vs North Forsyth

The top 4 teams in this Region seem to be pretty apparent, and there is a distinct difference between the top 2 and the next 2.  Gainesville and Habersham should be the two teams that meet in the consolation finals to determine 3 and 4.  Jackson Co and North Forsyth have been on a collision course at the Region Duals Finals all season long.  Like in Region 2, this dual could be between two teams that both find their way into the top 4 at the State Duals.
