Three really good ranked duals on Wednesday night and one solid OK Red rivalry matchup. Some of the matches are hard to predict, especially in Mason/Williamston and Gabriel Richard/Williamston, as teams will be shuffling their lineups to win the dual. We do our best give some potential matches to watch for. There will be more On Papers to follow for big duals on Friday and Saturday. Stay tuned!
Outlook: Really tough top-10 matchup here, in a rematch of last year's D1 semis. DCC fills their lineup well enough so that the dual will never be in doubt, but there are some interesting individual matches. If Martin bumps up to 120, as he often does for duals, we could see a match with Totten. Totten won both matches between the two last year. If DCC bumps Lee Krueger and Bercume up, as they have been for a lot of duals, either Caden Krueger or Andrew White would be a match to watch against Logan Hammingh. White beat Hammingh in a close match at the state tournament last year.
Prediction: Detroit CC +30
Outlook: Similar to the DCC/Rockford outlook, may Rockford have too solid of a lineup in this one if everyone is wrestling. However, it is an OK Red rivalry, and Grandville is a fringe top 10 team. 138 is a weight to watch, as Liam Fitzpatrick and Josh Vasquez would be a fantastic top-5 match. Grandville should be able to win a handful of matches, but Rockford's lineup is probably too much throughout.
Prediction: Rockford +12
Outlook: There should be a number of ranked matches in this one, especially in the middle weights. Mason would probably like to bump Ambs or Smith, plus Ausel and Granger to get the most ranked wrestlers in the lineup as possible. Based on Williamston's lineup, Mason may just stay home at their natural weights in this one. 144 is our match to watch with Ausel and Dion in a top-5 match. Williamston is having an impressive year, but Mason likely has too much firepower in this one.
Prediction: Mason +18
Outlook: This one is a really interesting matchup. Gabriel Richard is battle tested thus far, wrestling in the GGI, CCI, and they are going to the Hudson Super 16 this weekend. Clinton has been a power in D3 and D4 for the last 10 years, but this dual could go either way. Gabriel Richard has some holes where Clinton should pick up bonus points, but there are quite a few ranked opportunities for Gabriel Richard to steal some swing matches. For Gabriel Richard, they would need to win matches like Harrington/Long and Emelue/Whelan, if they were to happen.
Prediction: Clinton +6
