The Who’s #1 Event, hosted by FloWrestling, was conceptualized in 2013 by Willie Saylor and has become a staple in the wrestling community each fall. Elite wrestlers, their parents, and coaches line up each year waiting to get a call between the lull of Fargo and Super 32 to see if they will get a “Golden Ticket” to wrestle for the top ranked spot in the country.
New York has been represented by nine different individuals along with four others that hold strong ties to the Empire State. This will be the second time that New York will have two individuals wrestling in the event, with the first being Zaynah McBryde (Buffalo) and Zach Ryder (Minisink Valley) back in 2022.
Participants
Two-time state champion Camryn Howard (Bellport) returns to Who’s #1 for the second straight year after winning a 7-6 barn burner over Wyatt Medlin (Illinois) a year ago. Howard had held his #1 ranking for the duration of the 2025-26 high school year at 157lbs before making the assumed move up to 165lbs. He now sits at #2 in the country behind Virginia Tech commit Melvin Miller (Pennsylvania).
Three-time state champion Gavin Mangano (Shoreham-Wading River) will be a first-time attendee at Who’s #1 and will be wrestling down at 138lbs for the event. The last time Mangano competed at 138lbs was at Super 32 in October 2025, and he took third at the event with both finalists having now graduated high school. The Penn State commit is currently ranked #3 in the nation at 144lbs.
Both wrestlers train at the KD Training Center.
