Division 1

Analysis: While the dual likely won’t ever be in question, there is going to be some fantastic wrestling in this one. The Rams have three #1s in their lineup in Compau, Martin, and Hammingh, while the Shamrocks have three top-ranked wrestlers of their own (Totten, Lees, and Fuchs). The difference is the other 10 state qualifiers that the Shamrocks have, all of which are placement threats. All eyes are on 175lbs in this one, which could be a preview of next week’s individual state finals.

Prediction: Detroit CC +32

Analysis: Hartland rolled, while Brighton won a battle against Davison in the quarterfinals. This dual is where not having state runner up Jameson Wood at 113lbs will make things tough for the Bulldogs. Sensor won that match in the dual, although they split last year, so that would have created another toss-up for Brighton. This is still going to be a war, and Brighton will have their opportunities to win. Expect Jewell or Tougas to 150, Kosza to 157, Cappellano to stay home at 165, and Korponic (who weighed in at 165) to bump up to 175lbs. That gives Hartland the toughest possible lineup. This is as close to dead even as you can get, so we will go with the team that won the regular season matchup.

Prediction: Hartland +1

Division 4

Analysis: This Decatur team is wrestling really well with the likes of Burns, Morales, B. Mead, P. Wiggins, and Bradford. They’re going to score against Hudson, and we hope we get to see some outstanding matches like #1 Campbell vs #3 Morales. However, Hudson’s lineup is just too deep and strong, and they’ll still walk away with this one.

Prediction: Hudson +36

Analysis: We don’t call many upsets, but we are predicting a small one here. Clinton has come a long way this season and is wrestling really well at the right time. St. Louis is going to score, specially down low, but Clinton may just have too much through the middle and upper weights. While there are plenty of ranked matchups between state qualifiers, this dual may be decided at weights like 144 where neither squad has a state qualifier. #3 Challender vs #4 Lakatos will be our match to watch!

Prediction: Clinton +6
