Grappler Fall Classic is wrapped up, and now some of the state’s best will be heading to the Super 32 Challenge in Greensboro, NC this weekend. Most of Michigan’s national ranked wrestlers will be heading to one of the nation’s toughest tournaments chasing the prestigious Super 32 belt. We break down pre-seeds, best bets, and give the historical records and placers from Michigan.

Boys HS Best Bets

1. #6 Blake Cosby (157lbs) – Cosby was our lone placer in the boy’s high school division last year, finishing as a runner up at 150lbs. Cosby took 3^rd in a loaded weight at Grappler Fall Classic a few weeks ago, and he will look to have a finals appearance in Greensboro for the 2^nd straight year. Cosby has placed at nearly every tournament he has entered in his high school career, and we don’t see that changing here.
2. #12 Grayson Fuchs (144lbs) – Fuchs is a 2x state champ and has been fantastic on the national scene throughout his high school career. He was a 16U Fargo All American, and he put together solid tournaments in Fargo and Super 32 in the last calendar year. He’s one of the toughest wrestlers in the state to score on, and he’s a hammer on top. We love his chances to reach the podium at Super 32 this year.
3. #7 Logan Tollison (285lbs) – Tollison put together an extremely impressive Grappler Fall Classic with two straight nationally ranked wins en route to a first-place finish at 285lbs. That effort was enough to see him reenter the national rankings, and he has a great chance to solidify that this weekend.
4. #13 Brody Compau (106lbs) – Compau solidified himself as the #1 incoming Freshman this past offseason, winning gold at 15U and Pan Ams, and then following that up with a podium finish in Fargo. Compau most recently took 4^th in the Elite division at Grappler Fall Classic.
5. #13 Layne Martin (113lbs) – Martin burst onto the national scene in 2024 in Fargo, and he backed it up with another podium finish in the Junior division this past summer after winning his first MHSAA state championship. Martin took 7^th at Grappler Fall Classic in September in a loaded weight.
6. #15 Nicholas Sorrow (132lbs) – Like many others on this list, Sorrow has placed at at most tournaments he has entered in his high school career. A 3x state champ, Sorrow won Pan Am gold over the summer, and he has previously reached the podium in Fargo. Most recently, Sorrow reached the blood round at Junior 132 in Fargo, dropping the match to GFC finalist Jasinski (Illinois). Sorrow will be a tough out at Super 32, and he has a great chance of reaching the podium.

Girls HS Best Bets

1. #2 Kaili Manuel (Romeo HS) – Our best bet in all of high school, Kaili Manuel is looking for her third straight Super 32 belt. She won it all at 148lbs in 2023 before winning at 160lbs last year. Manuel has won just about every tournament she has entered in her high school career, so we really like her odds to bring home another belt.
2. #4 Cheyenne Frank (Oxford HS) – Frank has had a spectacular 2025, winning a state championship in March, finishing as an All American in Fargo in July, and winning the Grappler Fall Classic a few weeks ago with a 10-0 tech fall in the finals over McAnelly of Alaska. Super 32 is one of the only tournaments remaining that Frank has not yet placed at, and we love her chances to change that this weekend.
3. #4 Lillee Denson (St. Clair Shores HS) – Denson cruised to a Grappler Fall Classic championship a few weeks ago, picking up a 13-0 tech fall in the finals over Duro of New York. She enters Super 32 ranked top-10 in the country after placing in Fargo over the summer, and she is one of our best bets to reach the podium in Greensboro.
4. Kanata Richardson (Bloomfield Hills HS) – Although not in the pre-seeds, Richardson has already put together an outstanding 2025 year. She won a 190lb state championship in March, and she followed that up with a remarkable run to the finals in Fargo. She keeps proving she can compete with anyone in the country, so we like her odds to reach the podium in North Carolina.
5. #4 Halle Spears (Midland HS) – Spears was a state finalist in March and has worked her way into the national rankings. Most impressively, Spears finished 3^rd in Fargo over the summer at 207lbs. After dropping a match in the Round of 16, Spears rattled off 6 straight wins to claim 3^rd place at the toughest tournament in the country.
