University of Michigan

Michigan kicked off their season with a dominant 45-0 shutout over Virginia Military Institute, but the Wolverines will now see a much tougher test. The #11 Michigan team will compete in the inaugural National Duals Invitational, which will be held Saturday and Sunday at the BOK Center in Tulsa. Michigan will first see Arizona State at noon EST on Saturday. Should they win that dual, they will see the winner of Lehigh/Nebraska in the quarterfinals at 6pm EST on Saturday.

The 16-team field was determined based on teams’ finish in the final 2025 NCAA Division I standings; 11 of the top-12 teams accepted automatic invitations, while all participating teams placed 22nd or higher. Among this year’s field will be seven of the top-10 ranked teams, including four of the nation’s top-five teams – #2 Nebraska, #3 Iowa, #4 Ohio State and #5 Oklahoma State.

Michigan State University

MSU had three finalists in the Open division of the annual Michigan State Open this past weekend (Weiand, Vanadia, and Wisler). The Spartans will look to carry that momentum into an East Coast road trip this weekend. Michigan State will be in Long Island on Friday evening where they will see LIU. The Spartans will then travel West to New Jersey to see Rider University on Sunday afternoon.

Rider enters the weekend 0-1 with a 24-12 loss to #12 Illinois over the opening weekend. Rider has 4 guys ranked in the top-33 with a couple other guys just outside the rankings. The match of the dual will come at 125lbs where returning NCAA qualifier Caleb Weiand (Dakota HS) will take on #22 Klinsky of Rider.

This will be our first look at MSU in a dual, so we are still interested to see who they roll out at a few weights. We are assuming grad student DJ Shannon will be up at 174lbs, which would leave 165lbs open for someone like Cam Adams or Jack Conley. MSU also has a pair of good options at heavyweight in Max Vanadia and Josh Terrill.
