The 2024 Grappler Gold Invitational is in the books, and it was another loaded tournament. Dundee won the tournament, which saw the #1 ranked teams in D2, D3, and D4, as well as 7 other ranked teams across the four divisions. Dundee and runner-up Lowell had four champs each and were separated by only 8 points. Hudson’s three champs led them to third place over the number 2, 3, and 4 ranked teams in D1.

2x state champ Nick Sorrow (Hudson) was the lower weight most outstanding wrestler after his pin over D2 #2 Baker in the finals. Blake Cosby of Dundee was the outstanding wrestler for the upper weights after winning a bracket that had the #1 ranked wrestler in each division, including Hartland’s Dallas Korponic, who Cosby beat in the finals by an 8-3 decision.

Some other notable results included Hudson’s Freshman Beckett Campbell, currently the top wrestler in the Class of 2028, who ran the gauntlet to take home gold at 144lbs. He beat Tanner McDunnah of Davison, last year’s returning state finalist in D1 in the finals, on a last-second reversal. 2x state champ Nick Sorrow beat 2023 state champ Brady Baker by a third period fall. In another battle between state champs, Kole Katschor (Dundee) was able to ride out Sebastian Martinez (Gabriel Richard) in OT for a 2-1 win.
