Junior National Duals – Freestyle

Junior National Duals wrapped up over the weekend in Tulsa, Oklahoma, with Team Michigan going 5-4 in Freestyle action. Michigan lost an exciting dual against Iowa in Pool D, with the dual coming down to the last two matches. Owen Segorski had a huge win in that dual with a wild 14-12 decision over Kael Voinovich. Jay’Den Williams followed up with a big throw for a pin to keep Michigan in the dual. Ultimately, Michigan lost 40-29 and had to battle back to the true-2nd place match against Illinois. Michigan would lose that dual to drop to the Bronze/Copper pool. In the Bronze/Copper pool, Michigan went 2-2 to finish 4th in the pool and 12th overall.

Jarrett Smith led the way for Team Michigan, securing a spot on the All Tournament team with a perfect 9-0 record. Red Arrow teammate Jackson Blum also put together an undefeated effort, going 5-0 in the tournament. Jay’Den Williams picked up where he left off in Greco, going 8-1 in Freestyle to improve his overall record to 16-1 on the week.
