The 11-12 year old age division is the transition age division where youth wrestlers start looking like high school wrestlers in terms of technique and intensity. Almost every bracket is huge and hotly contested with a slew of extremely talented, expierenced young wrestlers.
Watch out for 9 of the Top 20 Fab 50 wrestlers competing in this age division, including the last 3 Wrestlers of The Year- Dominick Lomazzo, Easton Turner, and Andrew Hughes!
70lbs
Three returning State Champs in this weight and two of the last three MI Grappler Youth Wrestlers of the Year highlight this field. Brock Prater (Dakota), Riley Bettich (Lakeshore), and Dominick Lomazzo (Dundee) are all returning champs. Lomazzo was Wrestler Of The Year last year and Andrew Hughes (Grand Ledge) was Wrestler of The Year two years ago. Logan Brown (Dundee) was GFC Runner-Up this year behind Lomazzo, but beat Bettich along the way.
The first big matchup to watch for will be quarterfinal pairing of Bettich and Brown in a GFC rematch where they met in the quarters as well with Brown winning 5-0. Winner of that match will then meet Hughes in the semifinals. On the other half of this monster bracket, Lomazzo and Prater should be on a collision course to meet in the Semifinals. Prater beat Lomazzo two years ago at the GFC, however, Lomazzo has been rolling ever since and will be tough to beat this time around. Hughes has been dominant this year as well with a virtually spotless record with the exception of two close losses to Lomazzo. The semifinals and finals in this bracket will be a treat to watch with some of the toughest youth grapplers in the country duking it out for the title!
Projected Placement: 1) Lomazzo, 2) Hughes, 3) Prater, 4) Bettich, 5) Brown, 6) Atwell, 7) Reece, 8) Noonan

Jordan Hamdan of Hudson has been just shy of Wrestler of The Year the past few years, but this kid has dominated the MYWAY State Meet, to the point where he is going for his 5th straight MYWAY State Title. It would take some research to validate this, but I have to believe that would be a feat that has not been accomplished before.
Hamdan will have his work cut out for him more than ever before to accomplish the 5-peat as this bracket is the largest in the age group with 34 wrestlers including fellow returning State Champ Josh Edmond of Silverback as well as Kyle Borthwell of Silverback - both of whom lost to Hamdan at the East Regional. James Whitaker of Lansing is another stud with a shot at contending here. Whitaker currently sits #13 in the Fab 50 standings as won just about every individual tournament he has entered this year.
At the end of the day, Hamdan is the man to beat, he has already beaten just about all the top contenders in this weight, including Borthwell, Edmond, and Whitaker, but it will be fun to watch him try to navigate through this monster chart that will take 5 tough wins to take home his 5th MYWAY State Title. Watchout for an Edmonds-Whitaker matchup in the round of 16!
Projected Placement: 1) Hamdan, 2) Whitaker 3) Borthwell 4) Lajoie 5) Edmonds 6) Strejc 7)Matlock 8) Roblyer
