Almont Coach Bill Turnmire is proud to announce that Grant Turnmire has signed to wrestler for D1 Cleveland State University. CSU wrestles in the Eastern Wrestling League (EWL), which consists of Rider, Edinboro, Bloomsburg, Clarion, George Mason & Lock Haven. The conference is one of the toughest in the nation.
Why did you pick CSU?
Grant: "CSU is a great fit as they are in the heart of the US banking district and provide a lot of great opportunities for my major, business. The head coach is Ben Stehura and the assistant coaches are Josh Zupancic and Clint Musser. Each one of the coaches had a successful wrestling career. They are now successfully coaching the CSU wrestlers to contend for a conference championship. The coaches and the wrestlers really sold me because they all seem to be sincere about the program and the program direction. The team is continuing to build. They have recruited some of the best wrestlers in the nation and they are starting to deliver results."
...Turnmire, who is Almont’s 1st wrestling state champion is a 3 time state qualifier and also placed 7th as a sophomore. He is currently ranked #1 by Michigan Grappler at 135 pounds in division 3.
