5A State Predictions

Before we move to the predictions for this week, lets take a look back and see how we did in our sectionals predictions.

Section A- Correctly predicted 11 of the 14 Section Champs, and 24 of the 28 Sectional Finalists. Correctly identified 63 of the 84 State Qualifiers from this section, 75%
Section B- Correctly predicted 11 of the 14 Section Champs and 22 of the 28 Sectional Finalists. Correctly identified 71 of the 84 State Qualifiers from this section, 85%

I absolutely crushed 5A with the predictions with 80% of the State Qualifiers and 22 of the 28 Champs.

Overview: The injury bug has been devastating to this classification, however we still should get several stellar finals matchups between the champs from each sectional. Despite some of the stars being out, you still have 4 of the top teams in the state competing in this classification, and they are split evenly into the two sectionals. This class could have a surprisingly good team race at the end of the week.

Team Race: Entering the season, Jefferson was the heavy favorite to repeat as Champion. However, injuries, early graduation, and other issue have really hampered their ability to pull away from the field. They are still in the mix for the title, but their margin for error is slim. Ola had a phenomenal sectional tournament and they are poised to make a serious run at the team title, and a trio of teams from Region 7 will be in the mix as well.
