Someone extremely tough will be going 0-2 from this group.

Gregory and Nihranz are returning state placers, while Mendez and Thomas are having great seasons, currently ranked 7th and 10th, respectively. Someone in the top-10 is guaranteed to go two-and-out in this one.

Outlook: This is one of the toughest, if not the toughest, quarter bracket across all five divisions. Morgan is the #1 overall seed, while Fitzpatrick and Culver have both placed top-4 previously. Gerber was a state qualifier last year.

Outlook: Yet another tough 1/4 bracket in D1 with three wrestlers ranked to place in the state. Aulbach is the #1 overall seed, Kennedy placed two years ago, and Cappellano is ranked top-5 in the state this year.

Outlook: This quarter bracket has three potential finalists in it, plus Ferguson who has been putting together a phenomenal season. Brintnall and Green were both at the state tournament last season, with Green taking 6th. Not many wrestlers in the state are wrestling better than Brintnall right now, as he has knocked off quite a few top-10 opponents over the last two months. Savage is in his first year in the starting lineup for Davison, but he has been tough to beat all season, ranked as high as #4 during the year.

Outlook: Although he's ranked 7th, Tyler Sage is the #1 overall seed for the state tournament. Swab is a threat to win it all as well after taking 5th last year. Chavez is having a solid year after qualifying last season. Only 21 losses combined this season between the four wrestlers here.

Outlook: Like 126lbs in D1, this weight features a 1/4 bracket with four guys ranked in the top-10. Someone ranked #10 or better is going home early! Cichocki is a returning finalist, Orozco took 4th last year, and Lucas Christopher is one of the better freshmen in the state. This will be a good one!

#8 Christian Bossbach (Bay City John Glenn) JR, 32-8/’24 State 8th
Outlook: Two state placers here with MacNeill in 2023 and Bossbach last year, as well as one of the standout freshmen in the state in Hodge. Vega is also extremely tough. MacNeill may be the slight favorite to advance, but Hodge and Bossbach are right on his heels after their exciting first round match.

Outlook: Second weight in D2 with everyone being #10 or better. Tatum is a 2x qualifier but has not yet reached the podium. Riggins was a state placer as a Frosh, and Ladach took 6th last year. Lengkeek also comes in with a 39-5 record and is a tough out. Someone deserving of a podium spot will go home early.

Outlook: Johnson and Bell were #1 and #2 earlier this season, and Mahon has won the last two state championships at 285lbs. Acosta was a qualifier two seasons ago at 285lbs before missing last year with an injury. This is a ridiculous quarter bracket, with whoever makes it out becoming a real possibility to win a state champion.

Outlook: Like we said earlier, if everyone is #10 or better, you'll make the list of toughest quarter brackets. Moreno and McClelland are returning qualifiers looking to make the podium for the first time. This foursome has combined for a record of 163-27 this season, which is just truly remarkable.

#15 Hunter Dalrymple (Chippewa Hills) JR, 36-15
#6 Bear Geibe (Constantine) JR, 45-6/’24 State 8th, ‘23 State Q

Outlook: Burns and Geibe are returning state placers, and then you add #8 Harrington to the mix. Dalrymple is also having a solid season as a #15. Burns is the favorite to make it out of this quarter, but it is a tough one nonetheless.

Outlook: All four wrestlers in this quarter were at the 2024 state tournament, which is extremely rare. Warner was the lone placer, taking 6th a season ago. Guilford would be the slight favorite to advance, but this quarter is really up in the air.

Outlook: Three state qualifiers at 190lbs, plus #8 King. Thorbahn, Minton, and Stanczak were all at Ford Field last year and will be looking to make the podium for the first time. Someone ranked #11 or better will go 0-2, which is always tough enough to put the weight on this list.

Outlook: Another weight with an incredible combined record. These heavyweights combined to go 169-28 on the season, which is outrageous. Simon and Chapman were on the podium last year and have legitimate shots at winning it all this year. At least one of the two won't even reach the semis this year.

Outlook: Burns will look to remain unbeaten on the year, but he will have an extremely tough first two matches to keep that streak alive. He will see #8 Taylor first before potentially seeing returning placer Wendling in the QFs. Taylor and Layman are both tough in their own right.

Outlook: Another rare weight with all four in the quarter being state qualifiers. Stalbaum and Taylor were both state placers last year at Ford Field, while Turner and Smith were both there as well.

Outlook: Holmes took 5th two years ago and is ranked #2 this season. Erwin was a state finalist last season and is ranked #7 entering the tournament this year. Don't look past #4 Jones, who was a qualifier last year and is wrestling extremely well right now.

Outlook: Knisely is a returning state finalist and is the favorite to advance here, but his potential QF match will be tough. #4 Vail vs #8 Wenkel is a fantastic first round match, as they're both returning state qualifiers.

Outlook: Randolph is a 2x state placer, finishing as a finalist last year. Wakefield was also on the podium at Ford Field last season, taking 4th. Marshall is a first time qualifier, but he has put together an awesome 52-6 season so far. Having 3 of the top-7, including the #1 overall seed, makes for a very tough quarter bracket.

Outlook: Having #1, #4, and #6 all in the same quarter bracket is tough. Bleeker and Johnson are both returning state qualifiers, with Johnson taking 5th last year. Johnson is also the #1 overall seed in this one.

Outlook: Gardner is a 3x state placer, and Corrigan is now a 4x state qualifier, placing 4th last year. Buurma is also extremely tough, placing 4th as a Freshman last year. Two extremely tough first-round matches, with the QF match being even better.

#14 Kaelyn Adamson (South Haven) FR, 30-10
#2 Sky Langewicz (Algonac) SR, 12-2/’24 State 3rd, ‘23 State 1st, ‘22 State 1st
#7 Rayna Richardson (Brighton) SO, 30-6/’24 State Q
Outlook: #2, #4, and #7 all in one quarter here. Langewicz was a 2x state champ before taking third last year, so she will be looking to win her third title. She will have to go through Richardson first, who was a state qualifier last year and is extremely tough. Adamson is a very solid #14, and #4 Armstrong is putting together a great 20-3 campaign this year.

Outlook: The only girl's weight with everyone in the quarter being #10 or higher. Burden is the small favorite to advance out of the semi, but keep an eye on 3x state placer Blyveis as well. Blyveis and Koch should be an excellent first-round match between returning state placers.
