CLASS 1A AREA 1 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 1: Hosted by Montgomery Co
Dublin, East Laurens, Montgomery Co, Swainsboro, Telfair Co, Treutlan

Lots of head to head matchups between these teams throughout November and December gives a pretty good idea how things will play out in this Area this weekend.  East Laurens has beaten pretty much everyone in the Area, and should roll into competition as the 1 seed.  Dublin has wins over Montgomery Co and Swainsboro, while Montgomery also defeated Swainsboro and Treutlan.

CLASS 1A AREA 2 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Rea 2: Hosted by Irwin Co
Bacon Co, Brooks Co, Charlton Co, Crawford Co, Furlow Charter, Irwin Co, Mitchell Co, Pelham, Schley Co, Turner Co

In the smaller classifications, sometimes having a full lineup (or close to it) is all that is necessary to advance to the State Playoffs.  While this is a large Area with 10 teams, how many of them will be able to field a team that only has a few forfeits?  Based on rosters and weigh ins, Brooks Co, Furlow Charter, and Mitchell Co will not be able to field a dual team, and Pelham and Turner Co will be unlikely to field much more than a lineup of 10 wreslters.  There aren't a whole lot of results to go by in this Area, but we do know that Charlton Co defeated Bacon Co and Crawford Co defeated Schley Co.

CLASS 1A AREA 3 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 3: Hosted by Bryan Co
Bryan Co, Emmanuel County Institute, McIntosh County Academy, Metter, Savannah, Savannah Classical Academy, Screven Co

Screven Co is in complete control of this Area, they defeated Bryan Co earlier in the year and have several other notable dual met wins.  Bryan Co and ECI split during the season, with ECI winning the last time out.  Look for MCA and Metter to battle it out for that 4th and final spot in the playoffs.

CLASS 1A AREA 4 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 4: Hosted by Lamar Co
Georgia Military, Greene Co, Jasper Co, Lamar Co, Social Circle, Washington Wilkes

Everyone knows that Social Circle will walk away from this weekend with the title, but the 2-4 spots here are up for grabs.  Results from individual tournaments seem to indicate that Lamar Co and Jasper Co should be locked up in a good battle to see who faces off against Social Circle in the Finals.  Washington-Wilkes, Georgia Military, and Greene Co will be battling it out with less than full rosters for the 4th and final spot in the playoffs.

CLASS 1A AREA 5 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 5: Hosted by Mt Zion, Carroll
Bowdon, Chattahoochee Co, Heard Co, Marion Co, Mt Zion Carroll, Pepperell, Temple

There are very few results out there for any of these teams, and most of those results are from individual tournaments.  Pepperell and Heard Co look to have the strongest teams entering this potion of the season, but after those two its a lot of guesswork.

CLASS 1A AREA 6 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 6: Hosted by St Francis
Excel Christian, Kings Ridge, Mount Vernon, Mt Bethel, Mt. Pisgah, St Francis, Weber School, Whitefield Academy

Mount Vernon, Mt. Pisgah, and St Francis are the only teams in this Area that have fielded a dual team that has been over half full, and some of these schools have fewer than 7 wrestlers on their roster.  Mt. Pisgah is one of the teams in contention for a State Title, and St. Francis defeated Mount Vernon earlier in the season.

CLASS 1A AREA 7 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 7: Hosted by Trion
Armuchee, Chattooga, Christian Heritage, Coosa, Dade Co, Dalton Academy, Darlington, Trion

Christian Heritage, Dalton Academy, and Darlington each have fewer than 7 wrestlers on their roster, so they will not be in contention for a spot in the State Duals.  Trion is one of the top teams in the state and will win this Area without pause, and that leaves 4 good teams for the final 3 spots.  Most of the results that we have for these teams are from individual tournaments, but Dade Co did defeat Chattooga 54-30 on December 1st.

CLASS 1A AREA 8 DUALS PREVIEW AND PREDICTIONS

Area 8: Hosted by Elbert Co
Athens Christian, Commerce, Elbert Co, Oglethorpe Co, Rabun Co, Towns Co

CLASS 1A SUPER DUAL ALERT: Commerce vs Oglethorpe Co

Commerce and Oglethorpe Co are the top two teams in the Area, but neither of them are quite as good as they have been in recent years.  Elbert is firmly the #3 team from the Area and both Towns Co and Athens Christian have smaller rosters that will cause them problems in their attempt to get by Rabun Co for the 4th and final spot in the playoffs.
