Region 1: Hosted by Camden
Camden Co, Colquitt Co, Lowndes, Richmond Hill, Valdosta
Every year some wrestling fans begin to think that this is the year someone knocks off Camden Co, probably because they spend most of the year in Florida, this year is no different. Obviously with Buford moving up to 7A there is talk that Camden's run will end, but there has also been talk that Lowndes may be able to knock them off at the Region level. Lowndes is very, very good, but until Camden gets beat, this is their title to win.
Predictions:
1. Camden Co
2. Lowndes
3. Colquitt Co
4. Richmond Hill
5. Valdosta
Region 2: Hosted by Carrollton
Campbell, Carrollton, East Coweta, Pebblebrook, Westlake
Carrollton's run to the State Finals in football really set their wrestling team back early in the season. They have started to hit their stride here recently and will probably meet East Coweta in the finals. Campbell has some tough individuals scattered throughout a HUGE roster, and they shouldn't have a problem claiming the #3 spot in the Region.
Predictions:
1. Carrollton
2. East Coweta
3. Campbell
4. Westlake
5. Pebblebrook
Region 3: Hosted by North Paulding
Harrison, Hillgrove, Marietta, McEachern, North Paulding
North Paulding has really developed into one of the better programs in the entire State of Georgia, they defeated Hillgrove and Harrison earlier in the year and should do so again this weekend. We should see a great battle between Harrison, Hillgrove and Marietta for the final 3 spots, with McEachern just missing out of the top 4.
Predictions:
1. North Paulding
2. Hillgrove
3. Harrison
4. Marietta
5. McEachern
Region 4: Hosted by Parkview
Archer, Brookwood, Grayson, Newton, Parkview, South Gwinnett
Parkview very well may be one of the most improved teams in the State of Georgia, regardless of classification. Coming into the season, I thought this Region would come down to a dual between Archer and Brookwood, but, I am beginning to think that Parkview is right their with both of them. South Gwinnett appears to be a distant 4th to the top teams in the Region.
Predictions:
1. Archer
2. Parkview
3. Brookwood
4. South Gwinnett
5. Grayson
Region 5: Hosted by North Cobb
Cherokee, Kennesaw Mountain, North Cobb, Osborne, Walton, Wheeler
Walton has moved to the top of the Region with wins over Kennesaw, Cherokee, and Wheeler this season. North Cobb is continuing its steady improvement from last season, and they will be in the mix for a top 4 spot this year. I haven't seen very many dual results from Cherokee this season, they do have some great individual pieces, but they may struggle in duals.
Predictions:
1. Walton
2. Kennesaw Mountain
3. Cherokee
4. North Cobb
5. Wheeler
Region 6: Hosted by West Forsyth
Denmark, Forsyth Central, Lambert, Milton, South Forsyth, West Forsyth
Lambert and West Forsyth will meet in the finals this year at the Region Duals, where Lambert will look to reverse a 51-21 defeat at the hands of the Wolverines. Denmark, Forsyth Central, and South Forsyth are all in contention for the 3rd position. While I haven't seen too many dual results from those teams, South Forsyth has had some strong showings in individual tournaments.
Predictions:
1. West Forsyth
2. Lambert
3. South Forsyth
4. Denmark
5. Forsyth Central
Region 7: Hosted by Duluth
Berkmar, Discovery, Duluth, Meadowcreek, Norcross, North Gwinnett, Peachtree Ridge
North Gwinnett has had some impressive dual meet victories this season, and they should continue those winning ways this weekend. Peachtree Ridge has had more recent success than any of the other teams in the Region. The final 2 spots in this Region could come down to which 2 schools are able to fill all 14 weights in their lineup.
Predictions:
1. North Gwinnett
2. Peachtree Ridge
3. Discovery
4. Berkmar
5. Duluth
Region 8: Hosted by Mountain View
Buford, Central Gwinnett, Collins Hill, Dacula, Mill Creek, Mountain View
CLASS 7A SUPER DUAL ALERT: Buford vs Mill Creek
In many eyes the Region Duals finals in this Region is a preview to the State Duals Finals, some even believe that this will be a match between the top 2 teams in the State, regardless of classification. I am left wondering does this dual match have more nationally ranked kids participating in it than any other dual match in the history of Georgia wrestling? Mountain View and Dacula should battle it out for the 3rd spot in the Region, but keep an eye on the rapidly improving Eagles from Collins Hill.
Predictions:
1. Buford
2. Mill Creek
3. Mountain View
4. Collins Hill
5. Dacula
1. Buford
2. Camden
3. Mill Creek
4. Lowndes
5. North Paulding
6. West Forsyth
7. Colquitt Co
8. Lambert
