The #12 University of Michigan wrestling team will close out the home portion of its 2023-24 dual slate tonight, hosting #2 Iowa at 8:30 p.m. at Crisler Center. Iowa has claimed the last two meetings between the schools, with the last Michigan win coming in the 2017-18 season. In that dual, the Wolverines won 19-17 after claiming the final four bouts, including Kevin Beazley and Adam Coon knocking off NCAA qualifiers Wilcke and Stoll in the final two matches.
This year, Iowa is ranked at nine weight classes, including five in the top 10, most notably #1 Real Woods (141lbs) and #2 Jared Franek (157lbs). The path to victory for the Wolverines will likely go through 133, 149, 174, 184, and 285. Michigan is favored in all five of those weights on paper. Additionally, DeAugustino is very capable of knocking off Ayala at 125, and if Cam Amine is back in the lineup, 165 becomes a big swing match.

Following their upset over #17 Wisconsin last weekend, MSU is nationally ranked for the first time this season at #25 in the NWCA poll. The Spartans will have two more tough tests this weekend on the road against #26 Illinois and #28 Indiana.
While Illinois is 3-5 in duals this season, they have a very tough dual team. Six Illini wrestlers are nationally ranked in their respective weight classes on InterMat, including Kannon Webster and Edmond Ruth in the top-10 at 149lbs and 174lbs, respectively. To pick up a win, the Spartans will likely need to pick up ranked wins with Caleb Fish (165) and Layne Malczewski (184). Additionally, Chase Saldate will look to keep his bonus win streak alive, while Kael Wisler will need to pick up a win over an unranked Braunagel brother.
Chase Saldate and Caleb Fish will have the matches of the dual against Indiana, and those matches could decide the outcome of the dual. Saldate will see All-American Minnesota transfer Brayton Lee, while Caleb Fish will see Freshman phenom Tyler Lillard. Kael Wisler will look for another unranked win on the weekend, while 125 and 133 will be important swing matches in the dual.

Central Michigan has won three of their last four duals, with a chance to extend that streak Sunday against Ohio. Per usual, Corbyn Munson will play a large role in the Chippewas capturing a win. He will see unranked Dominic Hoffarth and will be looking for bonus points in the middle of the lineup. CMU has two big opportunities for an upset in this dual with Lovett and Cramer both seeing higher ranked guys. If either of those guys can pick up the win, Central Michigan will be in good shape for this dual. Additionally, there are unranked swing matches at 125, 133, 141, 197, and 285.
125 - Sean Spidle (CMU) vs Ryan Meek (OHIO)
