Last year, Northern Illinois was the only MAC loss for the Chippewas. CMU was able to get revenge this year in the MAC opener, in large part to a big pin at 141lbs. Mason Shrader (Brighton HS) and Tyler Swiderski (Dundee HS) were the two former MHSAA state champs to pick up wins for CMU. Against Cleveland State, scored bonus points in five of its seven victories en route to a 29-10 win. It was the Chippewas' third consecutive win, as they improved to 4-5 overall and 2-0 in the MAC.
CMU takes a break next weekend from MAC competition when it goes to American in Washington, D.C. for the fourth annual Chippewa Challenge. They will see American, Campbell, and UC Bakersfield.
