This year's iteration of the Hudson Super 16 was no disappointment, with a ton of ranked teams, 135+ ranked wrestlers, and 17 of the #1 ranked wrestlers in the state. Dundee was able to run away with the team title, going 5-for-5 in the finals. Host school Hudson had an outstanding showing, finishing second, while D1 powers Oxford and Hartland tied for 3rd.
Mason Haines won arguably the toughest weight of the tournament. Entering as the top seed, Haines picked up a 16-8 major decision over state champ Gilbert in the semis. In the finals, Haines secured a 4-1 decision over state champ Sammy Stewart of Manchester. However, it was a teammate of Haines that had the match of the tournament, posted above. At 175lbs, Kole Katschor and Sebastian Martinez have developed a remarkable rivalry this season. After Katschor won an OT match in the finals of the Grappler Gold Invite, Martinez got revenge with a decision in the finals of the Catholic Central Invite. This time, it was Katschor with a 7-3 decision over Martinez, potentially securing his spot on the Dream Team should he run the table the rest of the way.
